The New Xbox 360...5 Years Later

Here's your new Xbox 360, as reported by KotakuNow sporting touch-sensitive buttons, built-in wi-fi, 250GB out of the box, a "smaller" power brick -- I'll believe that when I see it -- and a Kinect-ready port.

As I've said earlier, making a new box for the mainstream consumer at the launch of their motion controller is the most logical step for Microsoft to take.  I'll assume that they'll now market the heck out of this box, telling everyone that this is stable, easy to use, and a serious upgrade from the Wii.  Although I'll argue that the aggressive styling is not exactly the best approach to a family-friendly console, they could easily say that it matches with your HDTV, and that would shut me right up.

Though I still don't have $300 sitting around for such a purchase, I can see this "new" console working out very well for Microsoft during the holiday season.  Well, good for them...

Update: Okay.  The new power brick actually looks manageable this time around.

  4. I'll like to add that as long as it doesn't give me the red rings of death a month after the warranty ended, which I've already fixed once, and that's more than enough, then it's an improvement.
